abstract art
for those who find calmness
in repetition and points of interest
i create from intuition, the structure of my work inspired by the simplicity of piet mondrian and the complexity of gustav klimt - to me the yin and yang of modern art - both, like me, were deeply engaged with nature and symbolism.
working on black as i have sensory sensitivity to white. my palette is intentionally minimalist, shifting with the seasons, yet anchored by the constant calming presence of blue, which represents both sky and water.
when adding a point of interest, i integrate elements of traditional craftsmanship that I enjoyed in childhood. such as paper cutting, hand embroidery, weaving, mosaic, hands-on wordsmithing or collage. and sometimes utilise stickers to inject playfulness or symbolism. the stickers that i use are odd dot, they are images of ephemera from the victorian era which are quirky and give a nod to people's exploration of art in that period.
i employ an equitable method for people to own my collection art via a prize draw.
* yogi a person who embodies the whole practice of yoga not just asana ... the making shapes bit (note: i have desexualised the traditional language to reflect how yoga is evolving in the modern world)
