in repetition and points of interest

spontaneous morning wordsmithing

or typewriter text

my artwork is created from intuition and the structure is influnced by the simplicity of piet mondrian. artists work that i have found breathtaking and their narrative engaging are gustav klimt, barbara hepworth and tracey emin.

working on black as i have sensory sensitivity to white. my palette is intentionally minimalist, shifting with the seasons, yet anchored by the constant calming presence of blue, which represents both sky and water.

when adding a point of interest,  i integrate elements of traditional craftsmanship that I enjoyed in childhood. such as paper cutting, hand embroidery, weaving, mosaic, hands-on wordsmithing or collage. and sometimes utilise stickers to inject playfulness or symbolism. the stickers that i use are odd dot, they are images of ephemera from the victorian era which are quirky and give a nod to people's exploration of art in that period.

each piece of art work comes with prose that has been scribed whilst it was unfolding ... the moments in-between.

i employ an equitable method for people to own my collection art via a prize draw.

with a love of wordsmithing i regularly write by hand in cursive, which i have been told numerous times is beautiful to look at but near impossible to read ☺️. i have begun a regular practice of creating word art using ink stamps or my typewriter on nepalese papers.

* yogi a person who embodies the whole practice of yoga as a way of life, not just practicing asana ... the making shapes bit (note: i have desexualised the traditional language to reflect how yoga is evolving in the modern world)
